I attended the Lagos International Water Conference hashtagLIWAC 5.0 conference (June 26-26, 2024) to gain valuable insights on innovative Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene financing models and engage with industry experts.
Yesterday, one of the main speakers, Mr. Leslier Blinker (Development Fund Specialist Trans Infra Corporation) discussed the importance of impact investing in creating lasting social change emphasizing the need for investments that generate positive social and environmental outcomes, aligning financial goals with the greater good.
Another Speaker, Frederik Labee, (CEO Kenya Innovative Financing for Water and Sanitation) emphasized the importance of sustainable financing practices in driving economic growth and development. He highlighted the need for long-term investment strategies that prioritize environmental and social sustainability.
On his part, the Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources in Lagos State, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab discussed the role of technology in reshaping financial services and promoting financial inclusion. He stressed the significance of leveraging digital innovations to reach underserved communities and enhance access to financial resources.
Otunba Bimbo Ashiru, the Chairman Oodua group presentation focused on the power of public-private partnerships in funding large-scale infrastructure projects. He underscored the benefits of collaboration between government entities and private investors to address critical infrastructure needs and drive economic progress.
Representing Bread of Life Development Foundation, at LIWAC 5.0 has provided me valuable insights into innovative WASH financing models and their impact on sustainable development.
