Lagos Water Corporation (LWC) has appointed Engr Muktaar Tijani as its new Managing Director, replacing Engr. Mumini Badmus. These are ten facts you should know about the new LWC MD:
- Tijani, is an indigene of Lagos State from the Ita-Agarawu area of Lagos Island.
- Engr Tijani started his career at Schlumberger Oilfield Services as the Senior Field Engineer.He then rose to become the Engineer in charge at Kinley Exploraton.
- Engr Tijani was Special Assistant on Power to former Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo in 2015.
- He was also appointed the General Manager of the Lagos State Electricity Board in August 2019.
- He holds degrees in BSc. in Geology from the University of Houston (Houston, Texas U.S.A) and Petroleum Engineering from the University of Oklahoma (Norman, Oklahoma U.S.A).
- He also holds further postgraduate certificates in the Regulation of the Power sector from the Florence School of Regulation (Florence Italy), Managing Power Sector Reform and Regulation (University of Cape Town), and Financing private power projects in Africa (University of Cape Town).He recently went ahead to get an executive program in public and organisational leadership from the Blavatnik School of Government in the University of Oxford.
- His full name is Mukhtaar Temitope Tijani and his nickname is MTT.
- He is a strongman of Lagos Island politics in Lagos State.
- He is a philantropist and does charity works through the Mukhtaar Tijani Foundation
