Mercy Corps Nigeria is thrilled to announce the kickoff of the Small Town WASH Expansion project, a USAID funded activity in Imo, Abia, and Delta states. This project aims to enhance access to Water Supply in urban, rural communities and further expand our presence in Nigeria.
A big shout out to Maxwell Samaila – Interim Chief of Party and to Jurbe Godep, Ph.D. for laying the foundation and paving the way for this incredible initiative. Their dedication and vision have been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition.
We are immensely grateful to the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) for their invaluable support and approval, which has made this project possible. Their partnership has been vital in driving positive change and sustainable development in Nigeria.
To ensure the success of this endeavor, we have engaged with key government stakeholders in Abia, Delta, and Imo states. Through these interactions, we have familiarized them with the project’s scope, budget, and timeline. Additionally, we have visited proposed project sites, including water treatment plants in these states.
I want to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the Honorable Commissioner of the Ministry of Water Resources – Lady Anne Dozie, and her dedicated team, for their unwavering commitment to the success and sustainability of this project. I would also like to express my gratitude to the Managing Director of the Imo State Water and Sewage Corporation – Engr. Emeka Ugo Anyawu, and his team, Mrs. Theodora Uchenna, the Special Adviser to the Governor on WASH, as well as the General Manager of the Delta State Urban Water Corporation and his team, for their invaluable contributions.
